Next Fifty Initiative

Understanding and Managing Dementia

October 26, 2021 | 9am – 5pm MST

In 2020 Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence was awarded grant funds from the Next 50 Initiative.  The Next 50 Initiative is encouraging innovation and leadership with the goal of enhancing the lives of the geriatric community. The mission statement from the Next 50 Initiative is “To promote independence and dignity for the aging population, to include the needs of low and moderate-income persons, encompassing individuals with physical, cognitive and/or behavioral disabilities, by encouraging and supporting innovative, affordable, and coordinated services and initiatives.”  The funds received are allowing us to provide educational goals to improve geriatric outcomes in healthcare.

We hope that the education you receive will expand your understanding of the aging process and dementia, provide you with tools for self-care as a caregiver, connect you with local resources, improve effective communication with those with dementia, explore diversity in dementia care,  and increase resiliency in your caring. These educational objectives will lead to better patient outcomes for those with dementia.

Please join us for our full-day workshop Managing and Understanding Dementia on October 26, 2021, from 9 am-5 pm. We will be meeting virtually over Zoom for a full day of interactive learning around caring for those with dementia.
