Certified Nursing Assistant Workshop

Check back often for next workshop date.

The Center’s CNA Online Workshop was developed to help prepare CNAs meet the unique needs of the aging population and ensure improved health results for older adults.
These FREE one-day workshops are offered quarterly.  Workshop topics include:
  • What is normal aging?
  • Recognition and prevention of elder abuse
  • Addressing dementia behaviors
  • Interprofessional strategies
  • Overview of The Virtual Dementia Tour
The CNA workshops are funded through a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) grant. GWEP has many components, all with the goal of improving geriatric outcomes in healthcare.
Professional development for CNAs is one of the key components of GWEP. CNAs are the backbone of elder nursing care and it is critical that CNAs receive evidence-based information related to the care of older adults. These workshops are designed to expand the understanding of normal aging and alterations in normal aging, improve empathy in care for the patient, and increase resiliency in your caring.
We are also developing interprofessional team topics that will build your emotional intelligence skills both personally and professionally. These program support those that care for older populations and lead to better patient outcomes.
