WINN New Graduate Nurse Residency Program – Preceptor Training

Preceptors from a variety of disciplines are crucial in preparing students for jobs in the real world.  This series offers introductory skills designed for clinicians interested in a role as clinical educators within their practice.

We will offer this 5-session series several times. See the dates below.

Series-level Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the potential professional benefits you and your agency can gain from precepting students.
  • Identify strategies that enhance the preceptor’s level of productivity.
  • Develop powerful questions that will further student learning.
  • Implement “the preceptor” tool with students.
  • Implement communication strategies to facilitate instructive dialogue with students from any discipline.
  • Discuss best practices for supporting individual learning outcomes of clinical students through evaluations.
  • Explain the value of inter-professional precepting in the professional development of students.

Clinical professionals (e.g., RN, ADN, BSN, APRN, etc.) with an interest in preceptorship are encouraged to participate.
